Frequently Asked Questions
- These FAQ's are helpful but can we speak to anyone about a potential order with you?
Sure, we would welcome that. Come and talk to us – there is no heavy selling, we will just be keen to help with your query. Please email us and let us know a preferred time to call you back.
- Can we actually meet you?
No problem. We don’t have a plush marble floored executive business suite but you are welcome to come to our home in Somerset and grab a coffee with us. We do this by appointment only but you are welcome to pop over. Let’s arrange a mutually convenient date and time!
- When shall we place our order?
All items of stationery are completed within two weeks of confirmation of your proof. Traditionally, invitations are sent out eight to twelve weeks before the big day, although some relatives/friends may need more notice, especially if they are coming from overseas or require sufficient time to book hotels in busy holiday periods etc. For this reason, some people choose to send a 'Save the Date'card which can be sent in advance (up to twelve months before the big day). This is an ideal way of letting your guests know in advance before sending out your more formal invitations.
Please bear in mind that we often have a waiting list for our artist especially during our busy periods. You may wish to have your sketch completed in advance and then wait to send out your invitations at a later stage
- Do I have to order all of my stationery at the same time?
No, not at all. We recognise that you may not have all the details at the very outset.
Most clients will order in two, possibly three distinct stages:
1) Commissioning the sketch and possibly sending out Save the Date cards 2) Ordering of the Invitations and RSVP cards 3) Then complete the order with any remaining items - Order of Service, Place Plan, Table and Place cards, Menu, Guest Comments on mounted sketch and Thank you notepaper along with any additional mounted or framed original/copy sketches.
- How/when do we pay for our Order?
We ask for a £100 deposit upon ordering and kindly ask for full payment before final printing commences. We will provide a fully itemised invoice and can accept cheque, paypal or online bank transfer.
- Can we order samples from you?
Yes, and if you let us know more exact requirements (your colour theme for example), we can tailor a sample pack more towards what you are thinking of ordering from us.
- What choice of card is there?
There are five choices of card. These consist of white, cream and a colour in between which is oyster. In addition, we have just launched two new styles – both of which sparkle! Please ask us for a card swatch so you can view before making your choice.
- What choice of colours do we have for the printing?
All of our sketches are in pencil. You can also have any choice of colour for the text and/or solid colour background on the invitation wording or reverse of the product. You may wish your text printed in black which gives a stylish yet traditional look. However if your wedding has a colour theme, then you may wish to co-ordinate your stationery with this. We have provided a colour swatch on our website which gives you an idea of what is available. If you have a specific colour then please feel free to send us a sample (even if this is a ribbon etc) and we will source a matching colour for you.
- Can we have personalised guest names?
Sure. We can print these on your invitations (with paper insert option) or on your place cards. These will be printed in a font that will contrast well with your chosen typestyle for the rest of the invitation text. Why not combine your Menu with personalised guest names on as an alternative to a place card.
Your table plan will also have all your guest names individually printed.
- Do we get a proof of each item of stationery?
Yes, for each item of stationery you order, you will receive a soft copy proof (pdf) to allow you to confirm you are completely happy with the spelling and layout. Once this is confirmed we will then send you a hard copy proof so you can see exactly how your final order will look.
- What is the latest we can leave the Place Cards or Menus and/or Place Plan before this is finally printed?
We appreciate that the final few weeks before your wedding can be stressful. We like our guests to have all their final items of stationery at least one week before the wedding day (and earlier where possible) so there is one less item for the client to worry about in the final week. Our preference is to have all your final details (guest names) two weeks before the wedding so we can achieve this aim.
However we also appreciate that guests can change leading up to the event and we will endeavor to be as flexible as we can so that you can make some late changes. Unfortunately, once we have received your final confirmation that you are happy to go to print, any additional changes would have to be charged at the full price so please do bear this in mind.
- How much is postage?
This will be advised upon confirmation of your order and will be charged at cost, according to the prevailing tariff of Royal Mail. It’s normally approx. £6-10 per delivery however.
- Can we have some advice on taking the photograph for your artists to sketch from.
Sure. Let us know the venue and we will do some quick desk-top research and look it up (we may even have already sketched it). We will then email you our help guide to taking photographs. If it is a local venue (Devon, Somerset, Dorset) we may well have photographs on file we can use or take some ourselves when we are out and about in the area.
- What choice of frame do we have for the original or copy sketch?
There is a choice of wooden frame in either black, white or washed oak. This also applies to the Place Plan and Guest Comments Frame.
We can also provide copies of the original sketch (which due to our very high resolution scanning and printing will be very close to the actual original). These could make great presents for your parent(s).
- Can we have the ‘History of the Venue’ or ‘How we Met’ on the reverse of our Order of Service
It is purely optional, and something we provide for free. Some clients think it is nice for their guests to read about the venue while waiting for the action to start. This short history can again help add to the exclusiveness of your wedding venue. Alternatively, you might want to reflect on those very first moments when you first met and have a brief ‘How we Met’ as an alternative.
